The Healing Also Just Happens

OKAY.

LET'S GO.

What I'm thinking about this week is how sometimes maybe we could give ourselves a break and we could just do things that are fun and let ourselves have some joy and delight and celebration

without the agenda of personal growth/development/healing.

As seems to be happening a lot lately, I'm revisiting ideas and topics I've been in communion with for a long time.

To keep reworking them.

Rediscovering.

Reinterpreting.

So right now I'm like - ugh self-reflection seems super annoying right now and allison you're just being all up close in your feelings and trying to figure shit out and it is so boring and lame and it's summer now so maybe just do something else???

OOPS.

What I wanted to share today is - all of that REALLY GREAT STUFF we are all always doing to be better humans and better members of our communities and societies

IS SUPER COOL.

BUT. AND.

(lol, typical Allison)

Healing is constant.

It also happens even when you are choosing joy and celebration.

It also happens when you aren't actively 'making improvements.'

It also happens when you celebrate everything you've already done by enjoying where you are.

(as long as you're not, you know, actively harming people right this second, but I know many of you personally and I do not think that is what you're doing!)

You could watch a good movie!

You could go for a walk!

You could laugh with friends! Or by yourself! I do that a lot!

You could draw a cute or terrible picture just because it sounds fun!

You could watch a bunch of hilarious tiktoks!

You could eat your favorite food!

You could read a trashy book that you almost don't want anyone to know you're reading but it makes you really happy and you love it!

And guess what?

Your healing and your growth probably won't just stop.

It doesn't mean all the things you've done before this moment or will do after this moment don't count or don't continue or do get lost.

The healing also just happens.

The journey is a loooooooooong, long tale.

It can't all be EPIC.

Your story needs moments in between the drama.

Moments where the hero (that's you!) just got through one big moment and there's a bit of a lull before the next big moment.

I hope we remember that it's okay to be in our lives as they are, not always as we think they should someday be.

And just - do something you wanna do, without an end game.

At least sometimes.

Maybe today!
